Petrobras assessing alternatives for Mero 4 subsea connections

Brazil's Petrobras is analyzing alternatives for the subsea well connections of its Mero 4 project, in the Santos basin pre-salt.
The comment about the future Alexandre de Gusmão FPSO was made by the national oil company's executive production development director, João Henrique Rittershaussen, at a press conference on Friday.
"We received an offer from Saipem, but the price was way over our budget so we cancelled the [subsea risers, umbilicals and flowlines] tender," he said.
The startup of the FPSO is scheduled for 2025 and Rittershaussen said it was still too early to say if the project’s first oil will be delayed.
Petrobras' next floating production platform programmed to come online is the P-71, in December. In 2023, the NOC plans to put another four units in operation: Almirante Barroso, Anita Garibaldi, Anna Nery and Sepetiba.
The next five-year business plan of Petrobras will be unveiled by year-end, detailing its future FPSO orders. Some of the potential units were anticipated by BNamericas in a story that can be read here.
