Pluspetrol advances Peru exploration portfolio

Pluspetrol, Peru’s principal natural gas producer, also holds exploration acreage in the country where the company is carrying out work to find new sources of light crude oil.

Information from hydrocarbons licensing authority Perupetro shows that Pluspetrol was the only upstream operator that registered gravimetry/magmetometry activity in the first five months of 2019.

The 3,650km of data was collected at block 108 which covers 869,106ha in the central jungle and northwest of Pluspetrol producing blocks 56 and 88 (see map below).

The company also completed the drilling of exploration well Boca Satipo Este-1X at block 108 and is studying the data and reinterpreting seismic to define a well test, according to Perupetro.

In January, the energy and mines ministry approved a modification for block 108, extending exploration for three years.

PRODUCTION

Natural gas output at Camisea blocks 56 and 88 in May averaged 6.84Mm3/d and 18.3Mm3/d, or over 80% of the gas produced in Peru last month.

In May, blocks 56 and 88 also produced 24,850b/d and 44,062b/d of natural gas liquids, accounting for almost 90% of total output.

Pluspetrol’s other holding in Peru is block 8 in the northern jungle that produced 5,419b/d of crude last month, behind blocks X (14,368b/d), 192 (10,099b/d) and Z-2B (7,191b/d).
