Roundup: Ecuador hydro, Honduras funds, Paraguay call
Pre-investment studies concluded that Ecuador hydroelectric project Caluma-Pasagua is feasible, pre-investment institute INP reported.
Quito water utility Epmaps carried out the studies for the 4.03MW plant, which would use water from the Escaleras river in Bolívar province. The power and renewable ministry will execute the US$10.4mn project.

Renewable energy investment promotion project Areca approved US$80,000 to help Proveedores Internacionales carry out final design studies for the 8.5MW Honduras hydro project Las Ventanas. Areca is part of the Central American Bank for Economic Integration.

And Paraguay state power company Ande extended to March 31 the bidding deadline to expand seven substations as part of a project to strengthen the national grid. Each contract entails equipment supply, detailed engineering, civil and electromechanical works, and start-up.
