Roundup: Zuckerberg in Panama, Amadeus' appointment, Embratel's ICT portfolio

Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg will travel to Panama to attend the next Summit of the Americas, the country's press agency ANPanamá reported.

Zuckerberg is expected to meet Panamanian President Juan Carlos Varela, when the two men will likely announce the launch of the Facebook-championed Internet.org initiative in the country, according to tweets from Panama's communications secretary Manuel Dominguez.

The 7th Summit of the Americas takes place from April 10-11 in Panama City.

Amadeus, a European technology provider for the global travel and tourism industry, has appointed Mauricio Bernabó as its new country manager for Chile and Paraguay, the company said in a statement.

Bernabó will be responsible for outlining the company's commercial strategies for those markets and assuming the position in addition to his current role as regional account director, responsible for certain Amadeus accounts in Latin America.

Prior to this appointment, the executive held key roles at LAN Airlines and Viajes Andina del Sud, among others.

Brazilian telecoms operator and ICT services provider Embratel, part of the América Móvil group, has expanded its IT portfolio for the corporate market.

Among the new services offered are IT outsourcing services, including managed services, help desk, service desk, security, data center solutions and cloud computing.

With this expansion of these services, Embratel said it has become the only company to offer converged IT and telecom services for corporate clients. The company also said it has prepared for this launch for the past two years and that the incorporation of Hitss by América Móvil was key in this process.
