Service providers prepare for Guyana O&G growth

The build-out of Guyana’s oil and gas sector as well as that of neighboring Suriname is driving an increase in the number of companies looking to provide goods and services in the area.
Information from Guyana’s Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) shows there is no let-up in applications being filed to support operations across the hydrocarbons value chain.
The latest environmental authorization requests were submitted by Caribbean Oilfields Services (COS) and Oilfield Waste Management Services (OWMS).
OWMS plans to build a waste treatment plant which would use a thermal desorption separator with the evaporated oil and water content then condensed and recaptured/separated.
The company plans to recycle the recaptured oil so that it can be used for liquid mud manufacturing and the solid waste would be used for bitumen manufacturing.
Details for COS were not disclosed.
The EPA has determined that the two projects will not significantly impact the environment and therefore do not require environmental impact assessments but appeals may be filed.
