
Mexico: SICT Prepares Road Safety Audits in sections in operation 2022

The Secretariat of Infrastructure, Communications and Transportation (SICT), through the General Directorate of Technical Services (DGST), will carry out road safety audits on highway sections in operation, in order to reduce accidents on the Federal Highway Network.
The General Directorate of Technical Services (DGST) implements various actions that contribute to the reduction of road accidents, among which the following stand out: the execution of these audits, in order to propose preventive measures, or, where appropriate, corrective measures that reduce the number of deaths, serious injuries and material losses in the event of an accident.
It was in 2018 when the SICT published the "Road Safety Audit Manual", which serves as a regulatory framework in conducting audits, to help reduce accident rates on the country's highways.
With the audits, recommendations are established to improve road safety conditions from the point of view of the users and the required investment levels are estimated. The actions contribute to advancing in the fulfillment of the goals established in the Decade of Road Safety 2021-2030.
During the second half of fiscal year 2022, the General Directorate of Technical Services is scheduled to carry out Road Safety Audits in 1,796 kilometers of the Fonadin Network.
