Trinidad, Oct 5, 2022 (AN-YPFB).- Yacimientos Petrolíferos Fiscales Bolivianos (YPFB) is mobilizing the team that will start drilling the Mayaya Centro-X1 IE (MYC-X1 IE) stratigraphic research well at the end of next November.

"The stage of civil works, which includes the construction of the ironing station and camp, so far registers a physical progress of 94%, with the perspective of expanding the exploratory frontier in Bolivia towards the Subandean North," stated the president of the state oil company, Armin Dorgathen Tapia.

The stratigraphic research project is located in Alto Beni municipality, belonging to the Caranavi province of La Paz department, in the Lliquimuni area. Its objective is to investigate the stratigraphy of the sedimentary column and to evaluate the hydrocarbon potential of Carboniferous and Devonian formations.

The trajectory of the well will be vertical and the main targets are the Retama and Tomachi groups, formations in which the stratigraphic column of the Lliquimuni area and the hydrocarbon potential will be evaluated at a depth of 5,500 meters. The project is operated by Gerencia Nacional de Exploración y Explotación, YPFB's operating arm.

The stratigraphic research well is part of the Upstream Reactivation Plan and is the result of studies related to: regional and local seismic interpretation, acquisition, processing and interpretation of magnetoteluria, information on wells drilled in the area, formation evaluation and surface geology. These activities provide information that allows us to understand the geology of the subsoil in the area.

The PTX-27 drilling rig, owned by the company Petrex SA, has a power of 3,000 HP (horsepower). The drilling includes the transport of 202 loads between Santa Cruz-Beni-La Paz-Pozo MYC-X1 IE, a section in which more than 950 kilometers will be covered.

The transfer of the drill will require approximately 198 trips in trailer trucks, whose approximate weight to be transported is 2,667 tons. The team left the city of Santa Cruz de la Sierra on September 26. It crossed towns such as Cotoca, Pailón, San Julián, San Ramón and Guarayos. After a break in Trinidad, it continued its journey in San Ignacio de Moxos, San Borja and Yucumo. In the last section, it will cross Muyuri, the crossing to Sapecho, the entrance to the MYC-X1 road and Suapi. Its final destination will be the location of the MYC-X1 IE well.
