Extraction of aggregates, Maipo river

Description: The project "Extraction of aggregates, Río Maipo", aims to extract and process aggregates from the Maipo river, in the sector called Lo Gallardo. Regarding the location of the extraction wedges, they belong to a greater proportion to the commune of San Antonio, while in a smaller area to the commune of Santo Domingo; while the facilities and infrastructure for processing are located in the commune of San Antonio. In this extraction, it is expected that the volumes of stone material will reach an approximate total of 581,702 m3 in an estimated useful life of 20 years, located in the formation of two exploitation wedges, which cover a total surface area of approximately 24 hectares. An average annual extraction volume of 30,000 m3 is estimated, destined to supply the demand generated mainly by the construction of civil works. The present project does not contemplate a construction phase as such, considering that the Holder currently has the infrastructure and machinery necessary for the extraction and processing of aggregates. Regarding the operation phase of the project, the activities to be carried out correspond mainly to the extraction of aggregates, loading of the stone material to the hopper trucks to later be transferred to the processing area, which will finally be collected for commercialization. It should be noted that clients will not be dispatched, but rather they will be those who make the purchase at the project facilities. It is important to note that prior to the start of the operation phase, conditioning activities are required both in the preparation of the extraction wedges, the transfer of machinery, as well as the unpaved road (existing footprint), which will be used to access In the project area, this activity will last approximately 1 month. Finally, for the abandonment phase of the project, this is mainly related to the end of the aggregate extraction activity. For this, a reception of the channel must be carried out through the Hydraulic Works Directorate of the MOP, and thus verify that the extraction process was developed and carried out as indicated by the competent bodies. On the other hand, if necessary, the facilities will be removed and the infrastructure associated with the processing of aggregates dismantled, for which it is estimated that it will take 3 months to complete.
