Description: This project corresponds to the Improvement of the Wastewater Treatment Plant of Santa Cruz and aims to expand the capacity of the Treatment Plant, considering the projected demand by the year 2030, which is estimated at a population served of 34,350 inhabitants. To do this, it is necessary to modify the project "Wastewater treatment system for Santa Cruz", qualified as environmentally friendly through RE No. 134 of December 21, 1999 of the Regional Commission for the Environment of the O 'Region. Higgins. It should be noted that two pertinent queries related to the Santa Cruz Sewage Treatment Plant (PTAS) were submitted. The first was aimed at correcting discrepancies with the original project and was resolved by means of Letter No. 327 of April 18, 2011. The second query refers to the project Sludge Warehouse of Sludges of Rancagua where the liming of sludge generated in the Santa Cruz PTAS, resolved through the RE No. 146 of July 28, 2015. In both cases the mandatory non-entry of the projects into the Environmental Impact Assessment System was resolved. The letter and the indicated resolutions are attached in Annex 2. Currently the Sewage Treatment Plant consists of a preliminary treatment, followed by a secondary treatment of activated sludge mode aeration extended, consisting of an aerated reactor and a sedimentation, with recirculation and sludge purge, and finally a contact chamber for the disinfection of the effluent. The sludge generated is dehydrated by means of a band filter, to be later transferred to an authorized disposal site. The effluent from the plant is discharged into an existing irrigation canal, which approximately 250 m downstream, flows into the Estero Chimbarongo. The effluent complies with the limits established in Table Nº1 of the DS 90/2000 MINSEGPRES, emission standard for the regulation of pollutants associated with discharges of liquid waste to bodies of surface water. The modifications to the Sewage Treatment Plant subject to environmental assessment through this DIA, correspond to the incorporation of a new blower, a new sedimentation system, new equipment for the sludge recirculation impulse system (RAS). and the extension of contact camera. Objective The objective of the project is to expand the capacity of the Santa Cruz Sewage Treatment Plant, considering the projected demand by 2030, which is estimated at a population served at 34,350 inhabitants. To do this, it is necessary to modify the project "Wastewater treatment system for Santa Cruz", qualified as environmentally friendly through RE No. 134 of December 21, 1999 of the Regional Commission for the Environment of the O 'Region. Higgins. The aforementioned resolution is attached in Annex 2.
