New Deposit of Non-Hazardous Solid Industrial Waste Licancel Plant

Description: The "New Licancel Plant Non-Hazardous Solid Industrial Waste Deposit Project" contemplates the creation of a new deposit to store this type of non-hazardous industrial solid waste resulting from the operation of the Licancel Pulp Mill, which will be located inside the its industrial enclosure, in the commune of Licantén, province of Curicó, VII Region of Maule. Currently, the Plant disposes of its non-hazardous solid industrial waste or surplus by-products in an existing disposal site located inside its industrial property, activity that was favorably qualified in the environment through Exempt Resolution No. 75, of August 3, 2004, of the Regional Commission for the Environment of the Maule Region. Said project consisted basically in the improvement of the solid non-hazardous industrial waste deposit existing at that date in the Plant (hereinafter and indistinctly, "Existing DRIS") 1, increasing its useful life through the overlapping of cells, in vertical form and lateral. In this regard, it is pertinent to point out that, although the DRIS is projected to be contiguous with the current disposal site for industrial waste or byproducts of the plant, within the industrial site of the plant, both disposal sites do not overlap. Thus, this Project does not consider making use of the infrastructure that the current disposal site uses for the collection of its leachates, nor for the management of rainwater that precipitates or runs off the Projected DRIS, as long as they are contemplated independent infrastructure works. Likewise, this Project does not contemplate modifying the control or monitoring measures that were established in RCA N ° 75/2004, cited above. Objective The objective of the Project is the authorization of a new deposit for the storage of non-hazardous solid industrial waste or surplus byproducts generated by the Plant, to be located inside its industrial enclosure, in accordance with applicable environmental and sectoral regulations. This Project will provide operational continuity to the Plant, in terms of the management and disposal of its non-hazardous solid industrial waste and / or its surplus byproducts.
