Description: North Extension, Site N ° 4 - Iquique Terminal Internacional SA Ports (water) The Project that is submitted to the Environmental Impact Assessment System (SEIA), through this Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) corresponds to the extension of its docking in order to promote the development of the city and Port of Iquique. This initiative is part of the Iquique port development plan and seeks to respond to the constant increase in the need for an available berth as a result of the continuous growth of ships that are arriving at the coasts of the region. The Project corresponds to a project modification according to the terms defined in Article 2 of Supreme Decree No. 40/2012 of the Ministry of the Environment, since it modifies an existing project with Environmental Qualification Resolution (RCA) Exempt Resolution No. 101 / 2009 of the Regional Commission for the Environment of the Tarapacá Region. The Project considers the expansion of the North sector of the current Wharf by approximately 105.0 m, in addition to the replacement of the defenses panels of the current Site No. 4 with larger straight panels, replacement of Bita No. 46 by a new Bita of 150 T, with its corresponding foundation. For the construction of the Project, it is contemplated the qualification of a Works Facility within the same port area, which will be operational for a period of 15 months while the Construction Phase lasts. This installation considers the provision of hygienic services, offices, dining room, parking for light vehicles, parking area, storage area and workshop, material storage area, RSINP Warehouse, RESPEL Warehouse and SUSPEL Warehouse, implementation of septic tanks, for the management of wastewater in construction work. The operation actions are limited to the operation of the Site, whose operation will not undergo modifications with respect to the current situation, maintaining the type of cargo currently mobilized by means of transportation in ships of greater length.Objective The Objective of the Project is to extend the existing dock, called Site 4, thus allowing the boarding of large vessels, optimizing the current operation and providing a better service to the vessels that arrive at the Port.
