Description: The Sudeste mixed-use maritime terminal will have berths with a 21m draft and will be able to accommodate capesize vessels for shipping iron ore. The port, which will occupy a 52ha area, is designed to handle 50Mt/y of iron ore from 2012, with expansion capacity to 100Mt/y. The port is connected to the MRS railroad network. In February 2014, Impala, a subsidiary of Tranfigura Group, along with Mubadala Development Company, the strategic investment company of the Abu Dhabi government, acquired a 65% stake in the project. MMX Mineração e Metalicos retained the remaining 35%.
