Description: The project consists of the construction of a new railway corridor on the one that is currently in operation. The route would begin at the station located near the Gran Estación shopping center in the capital and would pass through the La Caro stop to continue towards the town of Zipaquirá, crossing the municipalities of Chía and Cajicá on its way. The objective of the train is local and inter-municipal integration, guaranteeing a comprehensive mobility service with feeders, local buses and inter-municipal buses. It will allow the decongestion of the north highway, today collapsed during peak hours. The project contemplates the integration with Regiotram de Occidente at the 68 avenue station, with the TransMilenio system at 26 and NQS streets, and with the First Line of the Metro at 72 street. The estimated travel time between 60 and 65 minutes. The light rail will be both underground and elevated, which will start at Calle 25 with Carrera 17, near the Gran Estación shopping center, and will end in the municipality of Zipaquirá. The new train is expected to carry 250,000 passengers a day. The project was included in the 2020-2024 District Development Plan.
