San Diego Reservoir

Description: Embalse San Diego Dams and reservoirs The Project will be located within the Fundo San Diego, owned by Agrícola El Boldo SpA., located in the rural area of the Peralillo commune, Colchagua province, Libertador Bernardo O'Higgins region, approximately 4.3 km to the southeast of the town of Peralillo. The Project corresponds to the construction and operation of a seasonal regulation reservoir with a compacted earth wall 542 m long and 20.32 m maximum height measured along the axis of the wall from the natural terrain to the crest. The reservoir will store a useful volume of 932,182 m3 and 1,002,188 m3 of volume in flood. The maximum flooded surface in flood will be 10.15 ha. The work is located in the La Higuera stream, corresponding to a pluvial stream that presents favorable conditions and a good wall-water relationship for the location of the wall. For the filling of the reservoir, the construction of intakes in natural or artificial channels is not considered, since the existing irrigation infrastructure in Fundo San Diego and water use rights of the Holder consisting of 5,566 shares of water from the Association of Canalistas del Canal Población, shares that are delivered in a regulated manner to Fundo San Diego by the association of canalists through an existing partitioning framework, and then are conducted to the fund through existing irrigation pipes until they derive to Dam 3, an existing dam of intermittent filling at Fundo San Diego, point at which a Pump Plant will be set up to boost water resources to fill the future reservoir. The discharge/delivery process to the farm's irrigation system from the San Diego reservoir will be gravitational and through the same drive pipe to Dam 3. The construction of the reservoir will take place within an estimated period of 4 months, and will require the fitting out of a 411 m2 slaughter facility, within which supply yards and non-hazardous solid waste will be temporarily fitted out, in addition to the fitting out of chemical toilets and parking lots. After the completion of the construction of the reservoir, the work facility will be dismantled and removed from the Project area. According to the nature of the Project, the operation of the reservoir is indefinite, subject to a series of monitoring and maintenance. The objective of the Project is the construction and operation of a seasonal reservoir with a compacted earth wall that allows the accumulation of water, which will be used to satisfy and provide water certainty to the water requirements of the productive system of Fundo San Diego.
