Description: German specialty chemicals producer Evonik plans to build an alcoholates plant in Argentina's Puerto General San Martín. The alcoholates will be used as catalysts in the production of biodiesel from renewable raw materials and supply the South American market, especially Argentina and Brazil. The plant will replace imports worth US$40mn in its first year of operation. The initiative is expected to generate 30 long-term jobs. In 2013 Evonik announced the begining of operations in the plant.
