Description: Updating the construction method of the submarine outfall of the Antofagasta sewage final disposal system Domestic water treatment plants that serve a population equal to or greater than 2,500 inhabitants The project "Updating the construction method of the underwater outfall of the disposal system end of Antofagasta sewage" corresponds to a modification in the construction phase of the Project "Increase in the Management Capacity of Antofagasta Sewage", qualified favorably by Exempt Resolution No. 12 dated January 19, 2016 of the Evaluation Commission of the Antofagasta Region (hereinafter, “RCA No. 12/2016”). In the studies developed during the detailed engineering of the project approved by RCA No. 12/2016, the need to adjust the construction method of the complementary submarine outfall and its emergency discharge was identified, expanding the use of blasting in the section of the " beach zone”, “intertidal zone” and “submarine outfall sector”. Thus, this project considers the construction of the approved submarine outfall and its emergency discharge, through drilling and blasting, updating the construction method approved in RCA No. 12/2016. It is important to point out that the adjustment in the construction method submitted to environmental evaluation does not modify the authorized works, nor will it require new facilities, except for a new work front, with respect to what has already been authorized by the aforementioned RCA No. 12/2016, which detailed throughout this chapter. Likewise, this project does not modify the operating conditions of the environmentally approved project in the operation and closure phase. The objective of the project is to update the construction method of the submarine outfall approved by RCA No. 12/2016, in accordance with the results of the detailed engineering, which will be carried out by means of an open trench, also contemplating the use of blasting in the sections of the “beach zone”, “intertidal zone” and “submarine outfall sector”.
