Description:

Companhia Transleste de Transmissão S.A. is a privately held company incorporated in 2003 to build, operate and maintain power transmission lines and associated facilities. In 2004, the company was awarded a 30-year concession contract for the construction, operation and maintenance of the 345kV Montes Carlos-Irapé transmission line, extending 138km from the Montes Claros substation to the Seccionadora de Irapé substation, in Minas Gerais state. The company's majority shareholder is Transminas Holding (41%), a subsidiary of Alupar, with other minority stakes held by Cemig (25%), Furnas (24%) and Empresa Amazonense de Transmissão de Energia (10%), a part of TBE. The transmission line's operations and maintenance are carried out by Cemig and Furnas, under the supervision of Transleste. Transleste, which began commercial operations in 2005, is headquartered in Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais state.
