Celsia S.A. E.S.P., formerly Compañía Colombiana de Inversiones S.A. E.S.P., is a Colombian utility that generates, transmits, distributes and sells electricity in Colombia, Costa Rica and Panama. Originally established in 1919, it operates a 20,246km distribution network and a 274km transmission network, with 12 transmission and 74 distribution substations. In the generation sector, the company operates a total of 21 hydro and 5 thermo plants, plus one wind farm, with a combined installed capacity of 2,387MW, generating a total of 7,100GWh/y, and serving 580,000 residential, public-sector, commercial and industrial users. Currently, the firm is developing 92 rooftop PV generation projects, amounting to 37MW, and 24 back-up power plants with an estimated output of 11MW. The company is simultaneously working on two thermal districts which will produce electricity, hot water and cold water to replace conventional air conditioning and heating systems. In addition, the firm is scheduled to start up the 9.9MW Celsia Solar Yumbo photovoltaic plant in 2017. Celsia's headquarters are in Medellin.
