Empresa Eléctrica de Aisén Ltda. (Edelaysen), a subsidiary of Sociedad Austral de Electricidad S.A. (SAESA), is engaged in the generation, transmission and distribution of electric power in the Chilean regions of Los Lagos (X) and Aysén (XI). It currently has a concession area of 605km2 and operates a total of 26 power stations, among them wind, hydropower and thermal facilities, with an installed capacity of 59.09MW. The company distributes electricity through five isolated systems: Cisnes, Huichas, Villa O'Higgins, Amengual-La Tapera, and Santa Bárbara (Nueva Chaitén), and three sub-transmission systems: Aysén, Palena y General Carrera. In 2015, the company submitted an expansion project for the Alto Baguales wind farm in Coyhaique city, consisting of the installation of two 900kW wind turbines that will add 1.8MW to installed capacity, equivalent to 8% of Aysén system demand. Edelaysen was incorporated in 1982 and is headquartered in Santiago, Chile.
