Enel Chile S.A., formerly known as Enersis Chile S.A., is one of Chile's largest power holding companies and part of Italian multinational Enel. It participates in the local power generation sector through Enel Generación Chile (formerly Endesa Chile), and in the distribution sector through Enel Distribución Chile (formerly Chilectra). Headquartered in Santiago, Enel Chile was incorporated in March 2016 as part of the restructuring of Enel's assets in Latin America, which resulted in its name change in October of that year. Its generation unit Enel Generación Chile has an installed capacity of 6.351MW and 103 generation units connected to the country's central interconnected grid (SIC) and eight in the northern interconnected system (SING). Its generation sources are hydro (52%), thermal (47%) and wind (1%), providing a total of 17.564GWh in 2016. In the distribution sector, Enel Distribución Chile has a 2.100km2 concession in Chile's capital, covering 33 municipal districts. This represents 40% of total distribution sales in the country, distributing electric power to almost two million people. Enel Chile is headquartered in Santiago.
