Latin American development bank CAF expects to approve loans worth US$2bn this year to support development in Peru, state news agency Andina reported CAF's Lima representative, Eleonora Silva, as saying.

The bulk of these loans will go to finance infrastructure and sanitation projects, as well as credit lines for the financial system.

The 2011 figure is higher than the US$1.5bn that CAF had initially forecast for Peru, and the bank expects to approve a similar amount next year, Silva said.
