Egemsa submits EIS for Santa Teresa hydro project

Peruvian state generator Egemsa has submitted an EIS to the energy and mines ministry for the 92MW Santa Teresa hydroelectric project in Cuzco region.

Development would cover districts Santa Teresa and Machupicchu in provinces La Convención y Urubamba, respectively, according to the document.

The 36-month project's cost has been pegged at US$148mn, of which US$89.4mn are for the civil works and US$58.1mn for the electromechanical equipment.

The project would use water from the company's 90MW Machupicchu hydroelectric plant.

Last month, Egemsa began a two-year revamp at Machupicchu that will increase the plant's capacity by 100MW.
