Investment in the 485MW Los Blancos hydro project in Argentina's Mendoza province is estimated to hit around 3.2bn pesos (US$820mn), a spokesperson for Argentine renewable energy firm Impsa told BNamericas, citing official government figures.

Three bids have been made for the development of the project, which covers the construction of the Los Blancos I and II hydro plants on the Tunuyan river.

The contract will also award the rights to construct associated infrastructure, such as access roads, as well as the operation and maintenance of the facility for 20 years.

Impsa is participating in the tender as part of a consortium with subcontracting firms Queiroz Galvao, Impreglio and Triunfio, the spokesperson added.

Two other consortiums are also involved in the bidding process: one made up of construction companies Jose Cartellone Construcciones Civiles and OAS; and the second local firms Texca and Conpern.
