Firms line up to supervise US$6bn Bolivia hydro

At least 20 companies have expressed interest in supervising the pre-investment technical design study for Bolivia's 3,676MW hydroelectric project El Bala.

The potential bidders include AIN active, Intertechne Consultores, Fichtner, Typsa, Engecorps, Ingetec, Integral, Leme Engenharia, Camino, PCA Ingenieros, Inypsa, Cancino Ingeniería Construcción, Ecosintegrales, Dessau S&Z, SHE Consulting Group, Norconsult, Bureau Veritas, Technoproject, Incisa and Arcadis.

The groups participated in a clarification meeting held by state power company Ende which extended the bidding deadline to September 5 from August 29.

Last month, Ende and Geodata signed the contract to carry out the 15-month pre-investment study.

Bidding also is underway to develop 400MW hydroelectric project Rositas with awarding scheduled for next month.

While a call for bids for 254MW hydroelectric project Ivirizu is expected in the coming weeks.
