Mexico's digital switchover is scheduled to be completed on December 31, but 33 TV stations still have not carried out a digital transition.
Gabriel Contreras Saldívar, head of telecom regulator IFT, said these stations may lack the financial resources to go digital, but that very few consumers would be affected as a result.
Analogue signals were switched off in most of Mexico on December 31, 2015, although low-power stations were given an extension so that they could work on their transition to digital signals.
Contreras said that the pending 33 stations are not necessarily concessionaires or permit holders, and that if one of these stations failed to broadcast digitally by January 1, they could be breaking the law.
