Costa Rica fuel terminal passes halfway mark

Costa Rican refiner Recope reported that the expansion of its Atlantic oil terminal was 57.9% complete.

The update follows a visit by Costa Rican President Luis Guillermo Solís Rivera (pictured second from left) to the project site, in Moín.

The US$98mn initiative will allow tankers up to 80,000DWT (56,000b) to dock, which is double the current capacity. Fuel consumption in 2014 rose 2.12% to 19Mb.

Consortium Ingenieros Civiles Asociados-Constructora Meco started work on the expansion in May 2012. Completion is scheduled for this year.
