The bank's finance VP, Jorge Luis Rivera, said Ficohsa account holders will no longer have to leave the house to pay their taxes.

Through Interbanca, Rivera said the bank wants to show that it is on the technological forefront. The executive added that the project had been in development for a long time, but a tech-related issue in the municipality delayed its implementation.

Armando Calidonio, mayor of San Pedro Sula, pointed out that this is the first municipality in Honduras to implement such a platform, which serviced 4,000 people in its first days of operation.

Calidonio said the municipal government is working so that other banks can join this initiative. Two other banks are likely to launch their online platforms in the coming days, according to La Prensa.
