IBM expands tablet financing for SMEs

The Brazilian unit of IBM Global Financing (IGF), Banco IBM, has expanded its financing for tablets for local SMEs, according to press reports.

Starting from 15,000 reais (US$8,071), the simple and flexible leasing and financing packages, with reduced interest rates over 12 months, are intended to help SMEs to acquire tablets.

According to Banco IBM executive director Ana Zamper, companies are starting to invest in new technologies taking mobility into account. "Today the sectors most prone to acquiring this type of solution are health, oil and insurance, as they are looking to ensure greater agility in the performance of their operations," Zamper was quoted as saying.

In November, Banco IBM announced a US$1bn investment to fund ICT projects for SMEs through its business partners.

The initiative looks to help SMEs access advanced technologies that were previously reserved for big companies with larger budgets.
