The Brazilian unit of value-added IT distributor Westcon Group will start distributing US security firm Symantec's (Nasdaq: SYMC) data center and IT security solutions in the local market, Westcon said in a statement.

Westcon will offer access to Symantec's solutions for security in end points, data loss prevention, high availability, data protection and management, and storage.

As a value-added distributor, Westcon will focus on the corporate market, according to Marcos Tabajara, channel director for Symantec Brasil.

The DatacenterDynamics conference will be held October 27 in Mexico, DatacenterDynamics said in a statement.

The event will address the challenges faced by data center owners and operators in light of the complex combination of exponential data growth, technological improvements, energy efficiency, availability and security.

This year, the event will address topics such as design, construction and operation, strategic decisions and outsourcing, and optimization of IT.


Brazilian software group Totvs is preparing to increase its international expansion projects in the coming months and during the next five years, the company said in a statement.

To that end, Totvs is strengthening its products in its development center in Querétaro state, Mexico, which is part of the company's center in São Paulo, where the company develops the Microsiga line.

Totvs reported a 36.1mn-real (US$23.2mn) net profit for the second quarter, 4.2% higher than year-ago earnings of 34.7mn reais.


The Chilean unit of Spanish bank BBVA and Spanish online discount site LetsBonus have created the "Descuentos sobre Descuentos" platform, which provides the bank's credit card users with exclusive benefits when buying on LetsBonus, the two companies announced.

BBVA's Club Adelante members will receive daily LetsBonus offers on technology, gastronomy, entertainment, tourism, cultural and beauty services and products. Customers will receive a 20% additional discount upon using the BBVA credit card for LetsBonus purchases, and the customers can pay for their purchase in up to 24 interest-free installments.
