US security solutions provider Sourcefire (Nasdaq: FIRE) is continuing with its Latin American expansion and has now set eyes on the Chilean market, the company said in a statement.
Earlier this month, Sourcefire was reported as saying it was planning to invest US$1mn in Latin America next year to expand operations in the region.
In 2012, the company expects to "consolidate in the Chilean market, particularly in sectors such as the telecommunications, finance, government, health and utilities, which are our main beacons," said Carlos Bolívar, Sourcefire's regional director for Latin America and the Caribbean.
In Chile, Sourcefire has worked through a sales and distribution channel including companies like value added distributor Proweb LatAm, which has offices in Chile and Argentina.
Sourcefire has two offices in Brazil, in São Paulo and Brasília, which represents about 50-70% of the company's business in Latin America. Sourcefire also has operations in Mexico, while the rest of the region is served from its office in Miami.
Sourcefire currently has presence in 180 countries, with over 250,000 clients worldwide.
