Brazil's communications minister Paulo Bernardo gave the country's postal service Correios the official green light to launch a mobile virtual network operator (MVNO), communications ministry MiniCom said in a release.
Bernardo signed last week a decree, published in the country's federal gazette Diário Oficial da União, authorizing the launch.
According to the decree, Correios MVNO may be legally established via a subsidiary or through the acquisition of full or partial control in existing companies.
The MVNO is expected to be operational by year-end.
