The government of Argentina's Catamarca province has called a tender to build the second stage of the Las Pirquitas-Capital potable water pipeline.
The 18-month project includes building 10km of pipeline from Banda de Varela, where it will receive water from the Las Pirquitas dam, to the Planta 1 water distribution center in Capital department.
Bids for the 41.9mn-peso (US$10.7mn) project will be opened on March 2, according to the local government's website.
The new pipeline will provide uninterrupted potable water service to the area, as well as allowing lower operation costs and tariffs. The service will also cut down on losses in the distribution system and reduce contamination.
Work on the first phase of the pipeline began last year but has yet to be completed, according to local press reports.
