Peru's agriculture ministry (Minag) has formed a multi-sectoral group to determine the timetable for the execution of the third and final phase of the Chavimochic irrigation project.
The project, which will require a total investment of more than US$550mn, is scheduled to be tendered June 20, according national water authority ANA head, Carlos Pagador.
The group includes officials from the economy and finance ministry (MEF), ANA, private investment promotion agency ProInversión and concessionaire Proyecto Chavimochic, state news agency Andina reported.
The initiative involves building the Palo Redondo reservoir, with capacity to store 150m3 of water, and irrigation systems to cover 60,000ha of land in La Libertad region's Chao, Viru and Moche valleys, BNamericas reported previously.
