Brazil's Rio Grande do Sul water utility Corsan has launched three tenders valued at a total 13.47mn reais (US$8.16mn) for work to improve basic sanitation services in five municipalities.
The first, set at 7.39mn reais, involves work near the Cravo river in the city of Erechim. The 12-month project includes installing 16km of cast-iron pipelines for untreated water and reinforced concrete tanks, among other works.

The second tender is worth 4.10mn reais and involves work in the municipalities of Esteio, Nova Santa Rita and Sapucaia do Sul.
The awardee will have 12 months to perform maintenance work such as removing and resurfacing pavement, repairing storm conduits and performing earthworks and masonry work.

Finally, Corsan called a 1.99mn-real tender for a 14-month project in the city of Carazinho. The hired contractor will build drying beds for sludge treatment at a water treatment plant with capacity to handle 270l/s.
The initiative also includes installing a pumping station, a 200m3 accumulation tank and stormwater drainage, among other work.
