Bolivia's government is investing some US$8.2mn in potable water and irrigation projects in southern Chuquisaca department through its MiAgua water initiative to improve rural waterworks.
President Evo Morales was on hand to sign contracts for 55 of the 67 projects which have already been awarded in the department, the environment ministry (MMAyA) said in a release.
The government will finance a total of 91 projects, 44 in potable water and 47 in irrigation, in 26 of the department's 28 municipalities.
The initiative will provide irrigation for 1,437ha of land and potable water for 1,663 families.
