Description:
Bolivia's energies ministry is the national government's regulatory body responsible for the electricity, alternative energy, nuclear and evaporite (mainly lithium) sectors. The ministry is in charge of drafting, implementing and evaluating policies, regulations, and plans aimed at developing the domestic energy sector, including the country's electrification and the export of surplus power. The ministry is comprised of two departments: the vice-ministry of high energy technologies (in charge of nuclear power and lithium) and the vice-ministry of electricity and alternative energy. It is headquartered in La Paz. The ministry was formed in 2017 after a restructuring of the country's former ministry of hydrocarbons and energy. Oil and gas are now the responsibility of the hydrocarbons ministry. The country's mining and metals ministry was previously responsible for evaporites.
