Govt awards US$8.6mn East Berbice road rehabilitation project

Guyana's government has awarded an US$8.6mn contract to local firm H. Nauth and Sons to rehabilitate the East and West Canje roads in East Berbice region, government information service GINA reported. The initiative involves repairing and paving 11.7km of roadway using asphaltic concrete and an additional 7km using double bitumen surface treatment. Additionally, eight bridges and 28 culverts will be rebuilt. Work will begin in August and is scheduled for completion in 12 months. The project's supervision contract was awarded to local firm SRKN'gineering and Associates and will be coordinated through the public works and communications ministry, the report said. This project is included in Guyana's road improvement and rehabilitation program, funded by IDB.
