La Polvora hwy tender draws 9 groups

Nine groups have submitted offers to Chile's national highway directorate for a 44bn peso (some US$60.4mn) contract to build the third and last stretch of the La Polvora highway in central Region V, the public works ministry said in a statement Tuesday (Apr.1). La Polvora will be an alternative access route that will connect capital Santiago and Region V port city Valparaiso. A total of 11 groups pre-qualified for the tender, which is split into three contractual options: A) Quebrada las Tortugas T3 tunnel; B) T1 tunnel connections and coastal route; and C) the project's entire works. The companies and their respective bids (in A, B and C option order and in pesos) are Brotec (13.8bn pesos, 31.1bn pesos and 43.3bn pesos), Ferrovial Agroman Chile (11.4bn, 25.7bn and 35.7bn), Mendes Junior y Asociados (16bn, 38.4bn and 52.8bn), Icafal-Vial y Vives-Echeverria Izquierdo (17.8bn, 38.6bn and 49.4bn), Tecsa-Fe Grande-Con Pax-Valko (12.7bn, 31.5bn and 41.9bn), Sacyr Chile (12.4bn, 28.6bn and 40.1bn), Besalco (13.2bn, 32.5bn and 44.4bn), Obrascon Huarte Lain-Abengoa Chile (14.3bn, 29.6bn and 40.8bn), and Constructora Internacional-Raul Gardilcic Internacional-Claro, Vicuma, Valenzuela (17.2bn, 37.4bn and 50bn). A committee will be established to review the offers, which should take three weeks, with works possibly beginning end-May.
