Andean energy consultancy procurement watch

Ecuador’s energy ministry has issued a call for expressions of interest to support the expansion of the Isabela hybrid power system on the Galápagos islands.

The work entails the design of the photovoltaic component, drafting reference terms, and supervision during construction, startup and initial operation.

Elecgalapagos operates the Isabela system which boasts 1.62MW of biodiesel and 0.95MWp of solar capacity and 330kWh of storage. The expansion will add 1MWp of solar and 2.2-4.4MWh of storage.

German development bank KfW will finance the 48-month consultancy contract, documents for which are due by September 15, according to the procurement notice.

Peru’s hydrocarbons licensing authority Perupetro seeks a consultant to help identify the final discharge terminal where regasification takes place for final consumption of natural gas from Camisea block 56 that is exported as LNG.

“The purpose of contracting the service is to have necessary and timely information…regarding the valuation of natural gas and the payment of royalties, safeguarding the interests of the Peruvian State,” the government agency said in the bidding invitation. Perupetro numbers reveal that of the 34 shipments that have left Peru LNG’s Pampa Melchorita complex this year, 16 went to the UK, nine to South Korea, three each to China and Japan, two to Taiwan and one to Spain.
