Argentine regulator prioritizes 3.5GHz spectrum for 5G
Argentine regulator Enacom decided to allocate spectrum between 3,300MHz and 3,600MHz primarily for terrestrial mobile services, according to a release.
The spectrum will be used for both fixed and mobile communications, but particularly 5G mobile technology.
In addition, Enacom approved the general regulation of the so-called reliable and intelligent telecommunications service, which will regulate the use of the technology.
Enacom plans to tender the 300MHz of spectrum in the 3.5GHz band for 5G during the first quarter of next year.
UNIVERSAL SERVICE
In addition, in its last board meeting of the year Enacom approved nine non-reimbursable contribution projects totaling more than 1bn pesos (US$5.73mn). Seven belong to the internet infrastructure development program in villages and settlements.
According to the regulator, during 2022, 91 projects were approved, including all connectivity programs promoted by Enacom and financed through universal service funds.
