Arsat set to take satellite connectivity to 370 Argentine towns
The Argentine government will contract state-owned satellite company Arsat to take satellite connectivity and digital resources to more than 370 towns that currently lack internet access.
The Mi Pueblo Conectado (My Connected Town) program will have a budget of 1.1bn pesos (US$6.2mn).
The program will include funds from the public innovation ministry to facilitate access to satellite internet at open and closed points and acquire computer equipment. The ministry will also make digital services available to promote the digital transformation of local governments.
The project will involve the installation of two VSAT antennas per town. The deployment of the antennas will be carried out by Arsat, which will offer a 12-month service plan with 30Mbps download and 3Mbps upload speeds, with consumption of 100GB of data.
