São Paulo, November 9, 2022 - Ascenty, the leading company in the data center market in Latin America, announces the start of construction of five more data centers, expanding its absolute leadership in Latin America with a total of 33 infrastructures in Brazil, Chile, Mexico and now Colombia.
With an investment of approximately 1.5 billion reais, the new data centers are: São Paulo 5 and 6, each with an area of 7,000 m² and a capacity of 19 MW; Santiago 3, with 21,000 m² and 16MW; and Bogotá 1 and 2, with 9,000 m² and 12 MW each.
São Paulo 5 and Bogotá 1 are planned to begin operations in 2023. São Paulo 6, Santiago 3 and Bogotá 2 are scheduled to open in 2024.
These investments are directly related to Ascenty's business strategy with a focus on three verticals. First, expand the colocation offer in strategic locations, thus offering a world-class service related to infrastructure. Second, to provide a connectivity ecosystem in which customers can access all cloud providers, content companies such as streaming , and social networks, among others, as well as use the connection with the main telecom companies in the world. And, finally, provide the cloud connect service, connecting the customer to the main global cloud providers through infrastructure with high availability, superior resiliency and lower latency in the market.
“This announcement confirms our robust growth of around 30% per year, now with the arrival in Colombia, the fourth country with our presence in the region, in order to strengthen our strategy of meeting and responding quickly to market demands”, says Chris Torto , CEO of Ascenty. “Our objective remains to serve large companies that need data centers to not only operate their services, but also leverage their business through technology. Thus, we serve the hyperscales , which are large consumers of data centers, and also the corporate market in general, where we have seen accelerated growth, mainly in segments such as technology, finance, agribusiness, retail and health.
As with all Ascenty data centers, the five new units will also be operated with 100% renewable energy, carbon neutral and will have certifications related to infrastructure, safety and quality. Likewise, all structures will be carrier neutral and will be interconnected with key connectivity points as well as submarine cable stations via Ascenty's network of approximately 5,000 km of optical fiber.
