Baja California launches water tenders amid severe drought

The Mexican state of Baja California has launched water and waste tenders as part of efforts to combat drought.
The state is among those most affected in northern Mexico, with nearly a third of its territory suffering from extreme drought while the rest is experiencing severe to moderate drought conditions, according to a report from the country’s water authority Conagua.
The state government opened three tenders to rehabilitate waste water management and water supply systems, in the cities of Tijuana and Mexicali.
Rancho Escondido
The tender is for the rehabilitation of the Otay Cámara Oriente water tank in the Rancho Escondido borough, in Tijuana.
The winning firm will carry out impermeabilization works on the internal part of the 10,000m3 tank, according to procurement site Compranet.
A tour of the facilities and a clarifications meeting will be held on June 14.
The deadline to present proposals is June 23 and the winner will be announced on July 7. Works will start on July 18 and conclude on October 15.
Coronado
The tender entails rehabilitation of a waste water pumping sump of 8l/s in the Coronado neighborhood, in Mexicali.
There will be a tour of the facilities on June 20 and a clarifications meeting is slated for the next day, according to Compranet.
The deadline to present bids is June 28 and the winning firm will be unveiled on July 25. Works are expected to begin on August 9 and finish on April 5 next year.
Jardines del Lago
