Brazil Investment Watch: Ascenty’s 18th datacenter, Nubank’s first acquisition

Brazil-based datacenter group Ascenty is about to open its 18th site in the country.

Located in the city of Vinhedo in São Paulo state, the 24,000m² datacenter was built with investments of 200mn reais (US$49.2mn) and will start operations in the second half of 2020.

In total, the Digital Realty-owned group has 14 datacenters in operation in Brazil, compared to eight in 2018, and another four under construction, set to be in operation by the end of 2020.

“This growth in datacenters was enabled by Digital Realty and Brookfield investments last year. The big business momentum is driven by a high demand for this infrastructure in the region, bolstered by the cloud market and innovations in the telecommunications segment,” Ascenty’s operations VP Marcos Siqueira, said.
