Bnamericas

Renewable energy developer Casa dos Ventos has begun commercial operations at its 130MW Ventos de Tianguá wind complex in Brazil, the company said on Wednesday.

In a statement, Casa dos Ventos said the project in the northeastern state of Ceará required investment of 800mn reais (US$356mn).

Ventos de Tianguá is the company's fourth local wind project to begin operating in the past year, following Ventos de Santa Brígida, Ventos do Araripe and Ventos de São Clemente.

"We have now brought online almost 750MW of wind power in the past year, representing about 7% of Brazil's total installed capacity," Casa dos Ventos' new business director Lucas Araripe said.
