Brief: Chile's Punta Sierra wind farm advances
The construction of Pacific Hydro's first wind farm, the 82MW Punta Sierra project in central-northern Chile's Coquimbo region, is now 80% complete with the assembly of eight of 32 wind turbines, according to a press release from the firm.
The company is also constructing road access, a substation and transmission connections.
Pacific Hydro, which is owned by China's State Power Investment Corporation, expects commercial operations to begin during the second quarter of 2018.
The US$150mn investment will supply power to the central grid through its 2.5MW Goldwind turbines.
