Brief: Venezuela to penalize TV operators for price increases
Venezuela's consumer rights regulator Sundde has begun sanctions against subscription TV companies Net Uno, Movistar, Directv, Inter, Cable Hogar and Super Cable due to complaints about abrupt price increases.
"Users complained of excessive increases in their plans without their previous consent, problems with the service, a lack of remote controls and decoders and poor customer service," Sundde said in a statement.
Sundde called on the operators to clarify the terms of their contracts and services for which they are charging.
Venezuela's economy is faced with hyber inflation, which could exceed 1mn percent this year, according to the International Monetary Fund.
