CFE installed capacity jumps 6.8%

Mexico's federal power company CFE saw its installed capacity rise 6.8% to 43,100MW from January to October this year, while its transmission lines expanded 2.9% during this period to 40,000km in total length, the company announced. Specifically, CFE launched 10 new power centers with some 4,000MW in total capacity, costing US$2.14bn overall, the company said. Furthermore, substation capacity rose 5.3% to 123,000MVA, and the number of CFE clients grew 4.3% to 21.2 million. Eleven power stations designed to provide 4,800MW in total are currently under construction for US$3.51bn in investment. The CFE has also launched tenders for another seven stations worth US$2bn for 2,400MW. The CFE, which serves 31 states in Mexico, also expects all 353 workstations to receive ISO 9000 quality certification by year-end, the company said.
