Chile’s Sonda earmarks US$340mn for investments by 2024

Chilean IT systems integrator Sonda plans to invest US$340mn through 2024 in its regional operations and an expansion in the US market.
The figures are part of the company’s 2022-24 strategic plan, which entails, among other operational goals, achieving annual two-digit growth, strengthening the main business lines and diversifying projects.
CEO José Orlandini said in a statement that the investment will focus on “long-term contracts and IT infrastructure.”
Plans also include improving profit margins by 300 base points and boost sales mainly in the smart cities & mobility vertical, as well as the digital business, cloud & datacenter lines in Brazil and North America.
Sonda is present in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, the US, Mexico, Panama, Peru, and Uruguay.
In Q1, the group reported revenues of 236bn pesos (US$220mn), up 15.9% year-over-year.
Capex soared to 15.3bn pesos, up from 8.80bn pesos the year before, and included 4.59bn pesos for the purchase of fixed assets for internal use and contracts with customers, 766mn pesos in intangibles and 10bn pesos in net investment in subsidiaries, according to the company’s financials.
Also during the quarter, deals closed totaled US$315mn, up 6.6%, while the new opportunities pipeline amounted to US$4.45bn, Brazil contributing US$1.99bn, the company said.
In May, Sonda announced in Brazil its biggest-ever PPP project.
The 887mn-real (US$181mn) contract was inked with Mato Grosso do Sul state and involves deployment of a 7,000km fiber network and the delivery of digital services.
In addition, Sonda is negotiating PPPs in other states, Sonda Brasil CEO Ricardo Scheffer told BNamericas on the occasion.
