Cipef, Acon acquire Colombia's Vetra Energía

London-based Capital International Private Equity Fund (Cipef) and US firm Acon Investments have acquired Colombia's Vetra Energía, the companies said in a joint statement. The deal will hand the consortium exploration and production assets in Colombia's Putumayo, Llanos and Middle Magdalena basins. Financial details of the sale were not revealed. Considered one of the largest privately held independent oil producer in Colombia, Vetra had been owned by Spanish investment firm Iveravante and several minority shareholders. According to the statement, Vetra's net production during the first half of 2013 exceeded 6,100b/d. "The company's development portfolio aggregates over 18Mb of proved and probable reserves," the statement said. "This is expected to increase due to the successful drilling program in the Cohembi field as well as the positive results from the water-flooding program initiated in December 2012."
